Hi Pamela – that’s an interesting view. Of course you could always visit the dining car from coach if you were prepared to pay. I like the sleepers (if you can afford) as it provides a base and a quiet space, but I would be happy in coach for daytime trips. Lets hope proper menus come back across the network soon!

I really hope Amtrak steps up their game on the food service. One of the main reasons I always booked a sleeper is because meals were included. These new “meals” just aren’t worth the extra cost of a sleeper anymore. Several people I know have switched to coach seats for this reason alone.
