I have always wondered this.
I know that official rulings for RTW contests etc require a minimum distance to be travelled, and the Trans-Siberian may be a bit too far North for mileage purposes (it’s hard to ‘catch up’ by sailing quite far South in the Pacific), but that’s the only thing I can think of?
